Planning & Covenants

Protecting our Village Legacy

The Woldingham Association was founded to and entrusted with the promotion, preservation and observation of the Gilford Covenants and the London Union Land Company Covenants. These covenants were set down by the visionary who owned and created Woldingham in the nineteenth century, William Gilford. It was his view that in order to keep the village as a haven retreat from the City some guidelines regarding the what, the where, the how and the when could be developed within the Parish Boundaries.

The WA takes it’s guardianship of the Covenants in earnest.  Hence the WA’s interest in planning and development in and around the village. Following recent substantial changes in the national planning framework and the latest heightened threats to the Green Belt, we have our work cut out to just uphold the aims of the Association.
